American Lit Great Gatsby Ch 2

What image watches over the "Valley of Ashes?" What do you think this symbol represents?

The valley of ashes was a description of land that intersected with the city. It feels very grey and lonely. I think this is supposed to represent how Doctor Eckleburgs eyes, but I also think it could be meaning how Nick and Myrtle first met too.
