Political Correctness in America

Due to the climate of political correctness now pervading America, Kentuckians, Tennesseans, and West Virginians will no longer be referred to as “Hillbillies”. You must now refer to them as Appalachian-Americans.

And furthermore:

HOW TO SPEAK TO A WOMAN AND BE POLITICALLY CORRECT:
1. She is not a “babe” or a “chick” – she is a “breasted american”.
2. She is not “easy” – she is “horizontally accessible”.
3. She is not a “dumb blonde” – she is a “light-haired detour off the information superhighway”.
4. She has not “been around” – she is a “previously enjoyed companion”.
5. She does not “nag” – she becomes “verbally repetitive”.
6. She is not a “two-bit hooker” – she is a “low cost provider”.

HOW TO SPEAK TO A MAN AND BE POLITICALLY CORRECT:
1. He does not have a “beer gut” – he has developed a “liquid grain storage facility”.
2. He is not a “bad dancer” – he is “overly caucasian”.
3. He does not “get lost all the time” – he “investigates alternative destinations”.
4. He is not “balding” – he is in “follicle recession”.
5. He does not act like a “total ass” – he develops a case of “rectal-cranial inversion”.
6. It’s not his “crack” you see hanging out of his pants – it’s “rear cleavage”.

Still Researching

So I've found some really good information on my topic, but I'm still looking. You should check out Sherman Alexie's website.

It's really interesting and tells a lot about his life and accomplishments.

English 11 - Research Questions

The three questions I want answered are:
1) Since becoming a writer, how has your life changed and how has it stayed the same?
2) As a young person, did you imagine yourself becoming a writer? If not what did you think you wanted to do?
3) Looking back at your life so far, what is one thing you would think about changing?

English 11 - Research Paper

Since we have studied the Native American Culture, I will be writing my research paper about Sherman Alexie. I will be writing about his life and how writing his books has affected his life.

Introduction

So pretty much my name is Audrey. I spend a lot of time with my horses. I also play volleyball and compete in Track events. I'm almost 17 and I'll be a senior in about 5 months. Anything else you wanna know, just ask!
